Nana Melia’s Irish Bread

Ingredients
4 cups flour
3 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup milk (more/less)
1 cup raisins
l stick butter (or 1/2 cup vegetable oil)
2 eggs

Instructions
Mix 1st 4 dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Melt the stick of butter (or oil) and add to dry mixture, along with eggs, milk and raisins.
Mix by hand with fork until well blended.
Transfer the dough mixture to a bread pan that has been butter-greased and lightly floured.
Generously sprinkle top of bread with several teaspoons of sugar til druseled (more than just a glaze).

Bake 375* for the 1St 10 min, then at 350* for additional 50 min.

For a sweet twist to the recipe, Nana’s grandson Patrick will substitute chocolate chips for the raisins.
