Celebrations in Waterford City for St Patrick’s Day will kick off on March 17th with a performance of Irish dancing from the Higgins Academy of Irish Dance at 12.30pm on The Mall. In the build up the parade there will be free face painters for the children and tricolours for all! The parade itself will start at 1pm with over 50 colourful entries including Spraoi who always wow the parade with their creative entries. Fadó heritage group will also have a couple of surprises during the parade as they tell the story of how Waterford remained untaken throughout history, which is the theme of this year’s parade. After the parade (from around 2pm to 4pm), there will be live music with local bands The Jam Tarts and Chimpanzee and a trad band in John Roberts Square. The Waterford City Market will also be there on the day.
