A hound is a type of dog that assists hunters (see Cougar Hunter) by tracking or chasing the prey being hunted. Its abilities include assisting by identifying the location of prey or retrieving quarry.
 
There are three types of hound, with several breeds belonging to each type:
Sighthounds, which follow prey predominantly by speed, keeping it in sight. This type of hound is very fast and will catch and capture prey by itself.
Scent hounds, which follow prey by tracking its scent. This type of hound has endurance, but they are not fast runners.
Pub Hounds, which are neither quick footed, nor have great endurance, however they are able to retrieve beers, and are often useful in pointing out the location of the nearest restroom.
